Recruitment is finally here, and this year Bid Day falls on February 14th. We can’t wait for all of our new members to be our Valentine’s -- or should we say Galentine’s! What better way to celebrate our new sisters.
Last year, a few of our Alpha Phi members got to celebrate with a little Galentine’s day party. Although it wasn’t an official Alpha Phi sponsored event, girls from last year’s first and second year pledge classes got together on February 15th for some themed treats and activities.
The celebration was held at the Standard, which, if you have ever been, is definitely not designed to accommodate two pledge classes worth of sorority women. Nevertheless, everyone was ecstatic to celebrate with one another, even if that meant cramming into a tiny apartment.
Valentine’s day decorations graced the walls, along with pictures of everyone in attendance. Under the pictures, people wrote little messages to friends which they could take home at the end of the night as a memento. While filling up on heart shaped cookies and pink lemonade, pictures were taken and girls chatted excitedly about the weekend.
While our Galentine’s day will be our Bid Day this year, we can’t wait for a new pledge class and a time when we can return to in-person celebrations of our friends!
